Our Story

How It Started

Like so many great love stories, ours began with a swipe. Katie and Austin matched on a dating app and met for the first time on June 14, 2024, at the Ivory Peacock in the Flatiron neighborhood — a first date neither of them would forget. In a rare departure from form, Katie arrived an hour late, but Austin waited. She walked in just as a torrential summer storm swept over the city.

A New York Summer

What followed was one of those summers that feels like it was made for a movie. The two fell into an easy rhythm of dinners, late nights, and long conversations across New York City and Jersey City. Austin patiently working dates around Katie’s demanding travel schedule. The summer concluded over dinner at Le Coucou in SoHo, he asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes.

The Proposal

On April 23, 2026, Austin brought Katie to Castello di Guarene in the Piedmont region of Italy — the storied home of Barolo and Barbaresco wines — the night before her 40th birthday. With the castello glowing in the spring evening light, he got down on one knee. For perhaps the first time in her life, Katie was speechless — it took her a moment before she said yes. What followed was an incredible week together through northern Italy and Switzerland, a perfect beginning to the next chapter.
